Travel rewards questions Indian travelers ask us most

How many points do I need for Bangkok?

A return Economy ticket from Bengaluru to Bangkok via Singapore on Singapore Airlines usually costs 32,000 to 40,000 KrisFlyer miles per traveler, depending on saver seat availability and the season. For a family of three, plan for around 1,00,000 to 1,20,000 miles in total. Taxes and surcharges add roughly ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 per passenger. Rewardtactix works out your exact points gap from your current card balances, suggests the fastest transfer route from HDFC, Axis or Amex, and shows how many months it'll take to close the gap at your current spending pace.

Best HDFC card for travel?

For most Indian travelers chasing transferable points, HDFC Infinia is hard to beat. It earns 5 reward points per ₹150 spent, and these transfer to KrisFlyer, Marriott Bonvoy and other partners at strong ratios, often 1:1. HDFC Diners Club Black and DCB Metal are close alternatives, with similar transfer partners but slightly different fees. The right pick depends on your annual spend, whether you qualify for invite-only cards, and which airline or hotel program suits your travel goals. Rewardtactix checks your profile against all three before recommending one.

AMEX vs DCB for miles?

Amex Membership Rewards and HDFC Diners Club Black both transfer to KrisFlyer, Marriott Bonvoy and other partners, but the ratios and bonus windows differ. Amex MR usually transfers to Marriott Bonvoy at 1:1.25, while DCB transfers to Marriott at 3:1, which makes Amex more efficient for hotel redemptions. For airline miles, both can reach 1:1 to KrisFlyer depending on active offers. Annual fees, approval difficulty and category earn rates also differ quite a bit. Rewardtactix compares both against your specific destination and spending pattern to recommend the better fit for you.

How to transfer points to KrisFlyer?

Log in to your card's rewards portal, this could be HDFC SmartBuy, Amex Membership Rewards or Axis Edge Rewards, and look for the "Transfer Partners" or "Redeem" section. Select Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, enter your KrisFlyer membership number exactly as it appears on your account, and confirm how many points you want to transfer. Most transfers process within 2 to 5 business days, though some banks run instant transfer offers during promotional windows. Always double check your KrisFlyer membership number before confirming, since transfers are usually irreversible. Rewardtactix flags active transfer bonuses so you convert at the best ratio.

Is Scapia good for travel?

Scapia is a co-branded travel card built around its own travel marketplace rather than transferable bank points. It offers strong earn rates on travel and forex-free spending, handy for frequent international travelers who book through its platform. However, it lacks the flexibility of transferable currencies like Amex MR or HDFC points, which can move across multiple airline and hotel programs for outsized value. Scapia works well as a no-fee everyday spend card, but if you're chasing premium redemptions like business class awards or hotel suite nights, you'll usually need a transferable-points card alongside it.
